NATC (the official US trials organization) now calls it "Mototrials", not "Observed trials". I saw their press release on that, and you can see from their homepage alone, where "Mototrials" is listed no less than 3 times: http://natctrials.org/
Like "X-games", the 2011 FIM Indoor World Championship is now officially called "X-trials":

Wow, next thing you know they'll do something crazy, I dont' know, like maybe get rid of the seat and two shock-absorbers our bikes have.
