MATT FRACY REPORT: ISTC CLUB TRIAL (LAST OFFICIAL TRIAL OF THE 2010 SEASON)
Today saw Matt compete in the very last competiton of his 2010 season at our home club here in Shawnigan Lake. Although not very well attended, Matt did not disappoint in his effort today and continuing advancement! It was a tough course set my Trialsmaster Guy Smeeth, in very slippery conditons. Two things that Matt seems to excel with! He got off to a good start on the day taking a 8pt lead after the first lap. Some spectacular rides for cleans where everyone else struggled were to be the recipe for the day.
On the second lap, Matt caught fire and pulled off some unbeleivable rides to post the lowest loop score of the day out of any riders in either Advanced or Sr. Advanced with a 14 total. Matt has totally bonded and effortlessly meshed with the Beta Evo this year. I cant say enough about how well it has worked for Matt, and how much he has enjoyed getting better riding it!
At the end of the day, it was another first for Matt, beating a very good rider in the Sr. Advanced ( different class, but same lines and sections) in Guy Smeeth! In fact, Matt had such a good day that he was a clear 33pts ahead of both other riders in his class. Quite a year for a 14yrs old! A totally new bike, a new and harder class to ride, and lots of expectations from himself and everyone who has watched him. He passed all of his tests this year, from starting out his first event with a narrow victory, to finishing the season in devestating fashion with 20 and 30 point margins of victory.
So what is next? Next season Matt plans an all-out assault on the WEC Canadian Trials Championships, riding all of the PNTA Championship events as well as all club events. Matt and I would like to take the time to thank ALL of the great sponsors for supporting him during this past season. Matt won the Sportsman/ Advanced class in both the VMC and ISTC trials clubs on Vancouver Island this year!
