Top 5 salmon fishing tips

Here are our top 5 tips for fishing for salmon in rivers.

1. Go during the peak week of the year. The week of the traditional best fishing on that particular river for that particular species is often far and away the best time to fish it. Unlike resident fish, salmon will be migrating and only in the river for a very short time period.

2. Put scent on your lure. Blood Tuna Garlic is our favorite.

3. Use shrimp types of lures for species that feed on shrimp, such as Pink Salmon, Chum Salmon, and Sockeye Salmon. Bait fish imitations are ideal for Coho and Chinook Salmon.

4. For Pink Salmon there is one color to use on your lure. Let's just say we think we know why they call them "Pink" Salmon?

5. Use a boat if possible. On rivers that are big enough we've seen a boat reach areas faster and better. You'll hang up on the bottom less, too, since the angle of retrieve can be more favorable from a boat.
