Skagit River Bald Eagle Fest canceled

ROCKPORT - The 2010 Upper Skagit River Bald Eagle Festival has been canceled.

The Skagit River Bald Eagle Awareness Team has been forced to cancel the annual festival, which has taken place the past 22 years, due to a lack of funding during the current financial times, said Judy Hemenway, team president. The festival usually is held in late January.

The team hopes to use its available financial support to incorporate some of the festival's attractions into the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center, Hemenway said.

The center will remain open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Monday, Feb. 15.
